Guidelines for Writing Your Children's Story

Your book will be graded on:

  1. Appropriateness for little children
  2. Completion
  3. Appearance
  4. The following guidelines

You will:

  • Number pages in the bottom outside corner.
    • Numbers 3-28
  • Begin your story on page 3 with text on the bottom.
  • Write text on even numbered pages.
    • 12 lines up for vertical
    • 9 lines up for horizontal
  • Text for 2-page spreads goes on the bottom.
    • 3 lines up.
  • End your story on page 28 with text on the bottom.
    • 3 lines up.
  • Pencil your story and page numbers in pencil first.
  • Use only black felt pen.
    • Do this last- after your pictures are done.
  • Place a blank piece of paper under the one you're working on to prevent ink from seeping through.
  • Print all text- no cursive.
  • Laminate Cover.
  • Use the straight-line guide to help you write evenly.
  • Coordinate pictures and text.
  • Have fun.
