1. Tell me about yourself.
I'm a police officer with Boston Police Departmen1. My name is ----------------------. I'm from the Dominican Republic. I came to this country in 1962, and I became a cop in 1987.

2. Did you have to go to college for this career?
They are going to change it in the future, but right now, all you need is a G E.D. or a high school diploma.

3. Why did you choose this career?
Because I wanted to help people. I wanted to work with young people, and I always wanted to be a cop, so I took the test and here I am.

4. How much money do you make per year?
It depends really. With the overtime you can make up to $100,000 dollars you can make $70,000 dollars but the base salary is $32,000 dollars. and after your third year, you can make up to 42,000 dollars.

5. What are the demands of this job?
You're always on the job, and you don't know if you 're ever going home. You always have to watch out for people and what they' re doing, so it is very demanding. You always have to be thinking, with an open mind. You can't relax at any time and it takes a lot out of you and your family, because your family always worries about you.

6. What are the benefits of this job?
Oh! The benefits are you get to meet a lot of people; you get to work with people; and you get to meet a lot of young kids and try to show them the right way, So that's very helpful and is one of the great benefits of serving the community.
