Then and Now Chart

Teacher and students share information from conversations with seniors, brainstorm results, and compile information in a chart. Example below:

 We walked to school.  We take the bus.
 We listened to radio news.  We watch TV news.
 We paid 15 cents for a loaf of bread.  We pay $1.50 for a loaf of bread.
 Girls wore dresses. Boys wore trousers.  Girls and boys wear jeans.
 Mansions were on the avenue.  A boulevard replaced the mansions.
 We learned from books.  We learn from books, computers, videos.
 We wrote letters.  We send e-mail.
 We listened to Billie Holiday.  We listen to Tracy Chapman.
 We went to the Strand to see movies.  We rent videos from BlockBusters.
